Senior Exploration Geologist / Exploration Manager

My client is a Perth-based minerals exploration group with lithium, gold and copper projects across East Africa, Northern Europe and the Middle East.

They're well backed, move quickly and want a senior geologist who can take ownership of the technical side of their exploration.

This isn't an Exploration Manager role, but it's not far off. The board aren't geologists, so they're after someone with the experience and confidence to run the programmes, tell them what's needed and back it up with sound geology.

The role

• Oversee exploration programmes across three countries, making sure the work is done properly and pushed along
• Plan and supervise soil and rock chip sampling programmes
• Interpret the geology and data, and pick drill targets
• Manage drilling programmes and contractors in the field
• Interpret results and give clear technical advice to the board
• Guide and mentor a team of junior geologists in Perth
• Decide when site visits are needed and put the budget case forward

About you

• Degree in Geology or similar
• Solid senior-level exploration experience, including running drilling programmes
• Strong background in surface sampling, geological interpretation and drill targeting
• Experience across lithium, gold and/or copper
• International or remote exploration experience - African experience would be a real plus
• Comfortable managing contractors and getting things done in tough conditions
• Uses your own initiative and doesn't need to be told what to do

What's on offer

• Salary negotiable but anticipated roughly $160,000 - $200,000 + super
• Permanent role based in Perth CBD
• Campaign-style travel - typically 2 to 3 week trips, no fixed roster
