It’s a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being close to the technical detail, takes pride in good data, and understands how GIS supports exploration teams in the real world – not just in theory.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for supporting geological data and mapping activities across a portfolio of exploration projects. This will include preparing high-quality maps, sections and figures for technical reporting, investor presentations and ASX announcements, as well as maintaining and improving spatial datasets used by the geology team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain GIS datasets to support mineral exploration activities
- Produce maps, plans, sections and figures for technical reports and ASX releases
- Manage spatial data, tenement information and exploration datasets
- Support the Senior Database Geologist with data integrity and quality control
- Assist geologists with ad hoc GIS, drafting and spatial analysis tasks
- Ensure GIS outputs are accurate, consistent and presentation-ready
About You
You’ll bring around 4–8 years’ experience working in a GIS role, ideally within mining or mineral exploration. You understand how exploration teams operate and can translate geological concepts into clear, practical spatial outputs.
Key Skills & Experience
- 4–8 years’ experience in a GIS-focused role
- Strong experience with QGIS and/or ArcGIS
- Background in mining or mineral exploration is highly preferred
- Experience preparing maps and figures for technical reports and ASX announcements
- Good understanding of spatial data management and data quality principles
- Exposure to geological databases and exploration data workflows
- A practical, detail-focused mindset and the ability to work closely with technical teams
