They have a proven track record across multiple commodities and jurisdictions, including bringing projects from grassroots exploration through to development and production.
The current focus is a large-scale copper-gold project in Queensland, supported by an established technical team already active in the field.
The team is built, and they now need a strong hands on leader to move the project forward to success.
The Opportunity
This is a genuine leadership role - not a “step up and learn on the job” position.
You will take ownership of an established team of around 10, set clear targets and deliverables, and drive performance against board expectations. The role reports directly to a highly engaged, hands-on board who move quickly and expect the same in return.
The immediate focus is delivering results on a district-scale copper-gold project over the next 6 months, with longer-term scope to support broader project evaluation and growth across the portfolio.
This is not a 9-5 role. They are looking for someone who will take control, set the pace, and get things done.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage an established exploration team of high calibre, technical professionals
- Set clear targets, timelines and deliverables and ensure they are met
- Develop and execute exploration strategy across the project
- Manage RC and diamond drilling programs, geophysics and surface exploration activities
- Interpret geological, geochemical and geophysical data
- Manage budgets, contractors and technical service providers
- Act as Competent Person (JORC 2012) for ASX reporting
- Contribute to ASX announcements, board reporting and technical updates
- Ensure compliance with Queensland regulatory and heritage requirements
- Support longer-term project evaluation and growth initiatives
About You
- BSc Geology with around 15+ years’ exploration experience
- Proven leadership experience managing exploration teams
- Copper and gold exploration background (VMS / epithermal systems preferred)
- CP-qualified under JORC Code 2012 (AusIMM or AIG)
- Strong technical capability across drilling, geophysics and data interpretation
- A track record of delivery - discoveries, resource definition or project advancement
- Confident, firm but fair - a leader who sets expectations and follows through
- Practical, organised and outcome-focused
- Perth-based with willingness to travel to Queensland as required
This role will suit someone who:

- Base salary anticipated around $250,000+ (but negotiable) +12% superannuation + 15% STI
- Long-term incentives (LTI) (performance rights / options)
