My client is a large, well-established Western Australian infrastructure organisation with a significant operational footprint across the State. They're building out their Environment & Heritage team and have a permanent Ecologist role open.
This is a good opportunity to join a team in a genuine build phase. Growing environmental assessment requirements across their works and maintenance programs mean there's plenty to get into, and a lot of the processes and systems are still being put in place. The work would suit someone happy to roll up their sleeves, get stuck in, and help set things up. There's also some interesting vegetation mapping work running outside the main survey season.
This is a hands-on role supporting the team, with a good mix of field and office work.
- Flora and/or fauna survey delivery to EPA Technical Guidance
- Field survey work and ecological assessments for works and clearing activities
- Supporting approvals - inputs to Native Vegetation Clearing Permits and Authorities to Take Flora/Fauna
- Ecological data management and reporting
- Pitching in as the team builds out its processes
You'll need
- A degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Botany, Zoology or a related discipline
- Flora and/or fauna survey experience delivered to EPA Technical Guidance, ideally in WA
- Working knowledge of the EPBC Act and Clearing of Native Vegetation Regulations 2004
- GIS skills, ArcGIS preferred
- A current 'C' Class Driver's Licence and the ability to do regional WA fieldwork
- A genuine team player who's reliable and field-ready
- A zoology background may be well regarded.
What's on offer
- Circa $120,000 - $230,000 + super, with flexibility for the right person, plus a short-term incentive
- A permanent, stable role in a growing team
- Up to two days a week working from home when you're not in the field
- Time in lieu for longer weeks
- Varied, hands-on work including some interesting vegetation mapping
Please note, this role is only open to candidates currently based in Australia with suitable working rights.
