Database Geologist

Run the geology database that keeps exploration and resource decisions on track.

My client is a Perth-based gold company with projects in Australia and overseas. They are seeking an experienced Database Geologist to own data quality, standards and workflows across exploration, resource development and mine geology. You will partner with geo teams, GIS and IT to keep the database validated, accessible and useful.

About the Role

You will maintain and improve the corporate geology database, set and enforce QAQC standards for sampling and assays, and integrate multiple data sources and capture methods. You will oversee the primary database platform, coordinate with GIS and IT on system health and upgrades, extract and package data for internal and external stakeholders, and mentor geologists and field technicians on best practice and tools. Short-notice start available.

About You
 

• 5+ years’ experience in mining/exploration data roles
• Strong SQL Server management and advanced SQL scripting
• Proven QAQC for sampling and analytical results
• Experience with exploration databases such as Geobank (or similar)
• GIS exposure valued — QGIS, ArcGIS or MapInfo
• Clear communicator able to train and support users at all levels
• Detail focused, organised and comfortable juggling competing priorities
