The Opportunity
This is a true business development role focused on winning new work across the WA mining sector. My client is looking for someone who understands mining maintenance and mining services, knows the right people across the industry, and has a track record of opening doors and converting opportunities into long-term contracts. You will take ownership of pipeline development, tenders and commercial strategy, working closely with operational and technical teams to ensure solutions are commercially sound and realistically deliverable. The role reports directly to the Operations Manager and there is genuine scope to build and lead a small BD function over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the WA mining sector
- Build and manage a pipeline of opportunities across mining owners and contractors
- Lead tender submissions and proposal development from start to finish
- Develop and execute business development and market engagement strategies
- Build relationships with Maintenance Superintendents, Asset Managers, Procurement teams and senior decision-makers
- Monitor market activity, competitor movements and pricing trends
- Travel to mine sites across WA including the Pilbara and Goldfields as required
- Work closely with internal operations and technical teams to develop tailored solutions for clients
- Represent the business at industry events, conferences and networking opportunities
About You
- Strong business development track record within mining services, maintenance or fixed plant operations
- Proven ability to win new business - not just manage existing accounts
- Established relationships across WA mining companies and contractors
- Good understanding of maintenance, shutdowns, sustaining capital and brownfields work
- Experience managing tenders, proposals and commercial negotiations
- Commercially astute with strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable dealing with senior operational and commercial stakeholders
- Engineering, technical or commercial qualifications preferred
- Perth-based with willingness to travel as required
